History

B.R. Anderson & Co. was founded in 1898 in Seattle, Washington by Borgen Roy Anderson, whose vision was to provide the best service and knowledge in the industry. His son, and successor, Webster B. Anderson took over the business in 1956 after working with naval architects in the construction of 64 vessels and 31 aircraft carriers during World War II. Web Anderson dedicated his life to serve the shipping community and worked up until he was 96 years old, when he sold the company to Ronald Portscheller and Stuart Harris in 2005. Web Anderson knew he was passing his company on-to owners who had been involved in the industry for years and could represent the shipping and tug industry well. His only requirement was that the name B.R. Anderson & Co. remain. After 45 years of industry experience, Ronald Portscheller sold his portion of the company to Dane Portscheller, who will help carry on the family business. Ron still plays an active role in the company today.

Borgen Roy Anderson’s vision holds true today and B.R. Anderson & Co. continues to provide the same, great quality service.
